LiteracyCorps and make a lasting difference in the lives of
students across Memphis through Reading Partners, an
evidence-based, one-on-one literacy tutoring program. As a
LiteracyCorps Member, youll play an essential role in empowering
young learners to strengthen their reading skills, build
confidence, and unlock greater academic success. Using a structured
curriculum focused on phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and
comprehension, youll support elementary students during afterschool
and summer programshelping them grow as readers one session at a
time. Each student receives two personalized 45-minute tutoring
sessions per week, giving them the consistency and encouragement
they need to thrive. Your service doesnt just improve literacyit
advances educational equity throughout our community. By showing up
for students who need it most, you help create brighter futures and
stronger neighborhoods, one reader at a time. Member Duties Provide
twice-weekly, 45-minute, one-on-one tutoring to two students using
the Reading Partners curriculum. Track student progress and
maintain accurate data, documentation, and session notes.
Participate in member trainings, reflection sessions, and
cohort-building activities. Build positive and supportive
relationships with students, families, and school or partner site
staff. Attend regular check-ins with supervisors and program
leadership to ensure high-quality service delivery. Program
Benefits $3,000 Living Allowance during the service term. Segal
AmeriCorps Education Award upon successful completion. Can be
applied toward qualified student loans or tuition. Ongoing training

training and ongoing professional development. Skills & Experience
You Will Gain Teaching and tutoring skills. Youth development
experience. Strengthened communication and public speaking
abilities. Knowledge in educational equity and literacy
intervention. Experience with data tracking, progress monitoring,
and reflective practice. Education Requirements High school diploma
or equivalent required. College coursework or a degree preferred
