Overview:Job Title: Director Systems Engineering Department: Engineering Reports to: Sr. Vice President Technical Operations Location: Jonesboro, AR or Franklin, TNSummary:S&H Systems is a single-source, full-service systems integration company delivering dependable material handling systems, software, and post-sale support since 2002. We are looking for a Director of Technology & Product Development with a passion for developing material handling solutions on behalf of our customers and driving solutions into the marketplace. We are looking for a candidate with expertise in holistic material handling process flow, expertise in material handling equipment selection and application, and expertise in conveyor technologies. In this role, you will collaborate with a highly skilled and interdisciplinary team of mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, operational and execution teams, and supplier development teams. Your ability to handle multiple priorities efficiently, retain a sense of urgency, and meet strict timelines will set you apart. You will be empowered to explore new ideas and technology to harness the power of creativity and translate it into best-in-class applications and solutions. You will lead a team of Technology & Product Development engineers and report regularly on project status. You will receive full support from management and leadership teams to grow your technical and leadership skills.Responsibilities:Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Plans and coordinates the work of engineering staff.
  • Oversees engineering staff and ensures that they meet goals and objectives.
  • Recruits additional engineering staff as needed.
  • Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
  • Provides training and mentoring as needed. Duties/Responsibilities:
    • Create program vision, develop program strategy, and lead the execution to meet program objectives including identification of equipment designs, technical development, manufacturing development, time-to-market, COGS, after-market service requirements, etc.
    • Lead the advanced development (incubation) efforts within the technology and development team: set vision, mission, and long-term strategy for the effort, make strategic and operational decisions, ensure execution against goals and timelines.
    • Communicate strategy, project objectives, and reasoning to broad audiences across the engineering and executive leadership teams, managing supplier engagement, and building future opportunities.
    • Provide leadership and oversight through different phases of the project including research through technology transfer to product, identification/quantification/analysis of opportunity, planning of timelines, budgeting, key partnerships, project execution, and preparation for manufacturing.
    • Interact with other groups like marketing, sales, and users to define application requirements and/or necessary modifications.

    • Assign project personnel to specific phases or aspects of projects including customer visits, solution development, product evaluation, and the preparation of proposal documentation in accordance with engineering disciplines and staff abilities.

      • Experience in launching new products and manufacturing start-up procedures.Ability to interact professionally with all organizational levels.
      • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
      • Ability to represent leadership on programs or org-specific strategic initiatives within multiple areas, interfacing with project managers, cross-functional team members and leadership team.
      • Ability to consult in a program setting within multiple areas, deeper or more dedicated advisory role, interfacing with more senior management. Education and Experience:
        • Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent work experience.10+ years of progressive experience in the Material Handling industry.
        • 8+ years of progressive management experience leading diverse engineering teams. Preferred Qualifications:
          • Masters degree in Engineering, Operations, Business Administration, or a related STEM5+ years product development
          • PMP Certification and/or Six-Sigma Black Physical Requirements:
            • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
            • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times. Travel Requirements:
