Job Description:

This position is responsible site level promotion, implementation,
and maintenance of EHSS systems, programs and initiatives to
support Tenneco's conformance with applicable EHSS legal and other
requirements and to minimize EHS legal risks and liabilities. The
position may be based in Northville, MI and reports directly to the
EHS Director of the company.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Coordinate the consistent implementation of Tenneco's EHS
policy, procedures, standards and guidance documents, programs, and
initiatives, including management of related EHS SharePoint site,
EHS Management System, and other enterprise systems that ensures
communication to the global EHS team.
- Analyze EHS legal obligations and risks and develop initiatives
and action plans to address those obligations and risks, including
but not limited to environmental permits, submission of required
reports, and maintenance of data are properly managed by sites in
the region.
- Evaluate and assess the internal EHS incident reporting
process/system including participating in root cause investigation
(in person as needed), development of corrective and preventive
action plans, communication of lessons learned and usage of
electronic incident reporting tool.
- Actively participate in Incident/Injury case management
including review and approval of information sent with 3rd party
Workman's Compensation/Injury Management claims.
- Identify, monitor, track, drive and report leading and lagging
EHSS metrics and KPIs metrics to ensure site level engagement and
transparent communication.
- Participate in and support corporate EHS audit program and
other internal assessment measures for all applicable Tenneco
locations.
- Work with Global EHS, legal counsel and operations teams to
negotiate and resolve government agency notices of violation,
claims and penalties.
- Collaborate with all Regional Managers, Directors and Global
EHS to ensure communication of information on EHS best practices,
lessons learned, and other success stories.
- Manage active site investigations and remediation projects in
coordination with Corporate Environmental Remediation Team,
including management of environmental consultants and outside legal
counsel, and negotiations with governmental agencies.
- Coordinate the collection and submission of the company's
energy use, greenhouse gas emissions and water use
initiatives.
- Develop and present site-level EHS trainings in line with EHS
training matrix/deployment plan(s) covering both legal and Tenneco
EHS requirements.
- Facilitates process and provides technical and administrative
services such as industrial hygiene sampling, ergonomic evaluations
to ensure compliance with EHS regulations and Tenneco requirements.
Specific attention is needed to evaluate and ensure compliance with
local EHS requirements.
- Establishes and maintains relationships with governmental
authorities on matters of mutual concern including voluntary
certification (e.g., ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 registration, VPP,
Industria Limpia)
- Ensure environmental permits, submission of required reports,
and maintenance of data are properly managed by sites in the
region.
- Supports emergency response actions dealing with the
environment, employees, or the community.
- Assures that Tenneco EHS Directives/Documentation are available
or translated into local languages as appropriate.
Minimum Requirements
Education: Minimum of a four (4) year degree (Bachelor of Science)
in Occupational Health and/or Safety, Industrial Hygiene,
environmental discipline or equivalent, engineering or another
relevant field desired. Relevant advanced degree preferred.
Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of experience with an emphasis in
environmental, health and safety program management, including at
least 5 years of EHS oversite of multi-site manufacturing
operations.
Skills

- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and
proficiency in local languages preferred.
- Travel expectations - minimum of 70% including international
travel, as needed.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environmental requiring the
use of Personal Protective Equipment, walking, standing, and other
motion-based activities.
- Strong knowledge of environmental, health and safety legal
requirements.
- Demonstrated technical proficiency and ability to manage
complex environmental site investigation and remediation
projects.
- Extensive background in hazard identification, risk assessment,
accident investigation and development of corrective actions / risk
reduction measures.
- Ability to serve as a subject matter expert in one of the EHS
functional disciplines (Occupational Health, Environmental
Engineering/Management, Safety, or EHS Systems).
- Understanding of manufacturing technologies and processes.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proven facilitation skills including the ability to influence
others.
- Strong team-building skills.
- Strong organizational skills including ability to manage large
number of disparate projects and to track projects through
completion.
- Working knowledge of cross-functional EHS disciplines.
- Demonstrate good understanding of latest relevant EHS
legislation within the assigned region.
- Fluent computer skills including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and
Excel.
- Experience in the automotive industry a plus.
